The Modular Downhole Tractor (MDT) is used to convey wireline equipment such as logging tools and perforating guns on mono-conductor wireline in highly deviated wells. Simple to use and easy to transport, the Sondex wireline tractor can operate in a wide range of well diameters and has constant communication with the surface.
The slim and powerful MDT operates with a force of up to 600lb continuous load. The only Surface Equipment required is a power panel and a notebook computer. The system provides helpful displays of various tractor parameters in real-time during the operation, giving the user absolute control.
For planning tractor operations, WEST predictive software is provided to model the wireline and tractor forces before deployment. This shows, with confidence, if a particular combination of tools and cable should safely reach, and be retrieved from, the required depth. During a job, the force predictions can be monitored against the real-time data, thereby minimising risk.
