Sondex VideoLog Readme ====================== Sondex VideoLog acquires data from the Sondex Downhole Video Camera and displays it on a computer screen. In addition, it writes the data to a log file which can be played back at a later date. It can also capture individual frames, during logging or playback, and save then to a picture file The program operates on Windows 98SE, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. A minimum screen resolution of 800 x 600 is required. The program will operate on higher screen resolutions but the picture will be proportionally smaller. The display adapter must be set to True Colour mode (24-bit or 32-bit) otherwise the program will not start. This version of VideoLog is for the USB version of the panel only. The panel has an FTDI USB device in it which appears as a COM port when connected to the computer. The FTDI COM port drivers must be installed when the panel is first connected and the port number can be examined, and changed if necessary, in Windows Device Manager. Depth can be acquired using a Measurement Computing's PCM-QUAD02 PC-Card connected to encoder pulses. A combined driver installation and configuration program called InstaCal comes with the card and this must be installed prior to inserting the card. After insertion, run the InstaCal program to initialise the board configuration and to determine, and if necessary change, the board number. To acquire data, you must have a Sondex Hardlock key (dongle) connected, enabled for VideoLog, otherwise the program will operate in playback mode only. The Hardlock drivers must also be installed.
