===================================================================== SONDEX WARRIOR LOGGING SOFTWARE README FILE ===================================================================== SONDEX V6.3.3 RELEASE Installation instructions: --------------------------------------------------------------------- To install the program, unzip the file to a blank directory (the file is password protected) and run the Setup program. You can also copy the contents of the directory to CD for future use. To install the updates, unzip the update files to the C:\Warrior\Bin directory. Installation notes: --------------------------------------------------------------------- The installation will not be complete until Warrior is run for the first time. Certain ini files are created or modified during this initial startup of Warrior. Virgin copies of the files, WARRIOR.INI, SERVICES.INI, TOOLS.INI and ULTRALNK.INI are copied to the WARRIOR\BIN directory during installation with file extensions .SXn where n is 0, 1, 2 etc. The appropriate file can be used as a reference in case the actual ini file gets corrupted in any way. Please note that this program is supported on Windows 95, 98 and Millennium Edition only. For USB systems, Windows 98 Second Edition or Millennium Edition is required. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Enhancements in V6.3.X: --------------------------------------------------------------------- 32-bit printing is now available. This includes colour pdf and tiff files and enhanced colour maps when printing vdls to colour printers. Standard logging plotters and some normal printers are supported (those using the HP PCL and Epson ESC2 printer languages). See Printers32.ini for a complete list. To return to 16-bit printing change [Plot] Hardcopy=pplot32 to Hardcopy=pplot in Warrior.ini. The appropriate Presentation Plot must be used when making hardcopies, either the 16-bit or the 32-bit version. The switch in Warrior.ini just tells the other Warrior modules which one they must use when they make hardcopies. The shortcut to Presentation Plot is no longer created during installation, hardcopies are made from the menu items of Interactive Plot and Plot Job Editor. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Support added for USB-based systems in place of ISA boards. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Support added for MIT tool (a separate Sondex dongle is required for this service, plus a new interface cable to go from the STDI/UTDI to the MIT panel). --------------------------------------------------------------------- Support added for new tools: UTT, CAT, GHT, FDD and DBT on Ultralink. --------------------------------------------------------------------- New Warrior Utilities options: Configuration Backup/Restore Edit Logging Service Details Mathpack Crossplot --------------------------------------------------------------------- Variables can be loaded from another dataset in Acquisition. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Various enhancements to Well Object Editor. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Log formats are now embedded in the database, so a database can be plotted without having the corresponding prs file. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Metafiles (wmf and emf) can be added to a plot job. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Facility added to read LIS tapes into Warrior. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Changes in V6.3.X: --------------------------------------------------------------------- Temperature tools now use the TEMP software, which produces 2 curves TEMP - the normal temperature curve DTMP - a differential temperature curve Because of this, the CTF tool has had to be split into 2 tools, a CTFA which is the temperature part and a CTFB which is the capacitance part. Both tools must be included in the service. The flow part of the CTF was already a separate tool (CFBM etc). --------------------------------------------------------------------- A new Sondex Service Builder (V6.3 or later) is required for this release. It no longer uses the [SONDEXNORMS] section of Services.ini as the sensor assignments now depend on which telemetry and surface system is being used. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: --------------------------------------------------------------------- There is some useful information in the readme file for the previous version of Warrior. This file is now called Readme old.txt --------------------------------------------------------------------- Release History: --------------------------------------------------------------------- Updates 10 Package - 27 May 2004: The FDD and GHT dlls have the option of using outputs from other tools for their computations or fixed values. The fixed values are now always stored in the TOOLS.INI file in English units but appear on the setup screens in the user's selected units. The fixed values should be checked before logging and also before recalculating passes particularly if using metric units. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Updates 9 Package - 27 April 2004: LASW.EXE has been fixed to cope with extremely long time-based passes. MITUTILS.EXE has been changed to give the option of overwriting the same pass when importing more than once. Also, the ability to create temperature compensation files has been added. The oven test runs be recorded on time selecting a suitable sample rate (between 10 and 60 seconds per sample is recommended). MITXSECT.EXE has had the Cancel option fixed when reading and writing calibration offsets as well as a bug fixed in the About dialog. CATUTILS.EXE has had the LAS header corrected. CAT.DLL has had the calibration check limits changed. TOOLEDIT.INI has had the WSR software added. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Updates 8 Package - 29 October 2003: These files (with the exception of CCL-USB.WSV, CCL-UTDI.WSV and CCL-STDI.WSV) have been updated to handle a new version of XTU (Ultralink Telemetry Controller) which has had sensors added for measuring the internal temperature and head voltage. Initially this XTU is only in the new generation of HADES high-temperature tools but will become available in standard tools in the future. In an existing installation, the Services.ini file must be manually altered to include the new sensors otherwise the system will not record them (no error will be generated though). Locate the section for the service you are changing and find the line TSTAMP=ULD,TSTAMP and below it add the lines ITEMPX=ULD,ITEMPX HVOLTX=ULD,HVOLTX These additions do not have to be made (but they can be) if running standard XTUs without the new sensors. CCL-USB.WSV, CCL-UTDI.WSV and CCL-STDI.WSV are service definitions for a Perforating CCL service when run on USB, UTDI and STDI systems respectively. The service can be added to the current Services.ini file from Utilities - Edit Logging Service Details - Service - Import. SERVICES.SXn and TOOLS.SXn are copies of SERVICES.INI and TOOLS.INI with the above modifications added for various system configurations. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Updates 7 Package - 29 August 2003: HCT.WCF contains the tool definitions for the HCT (HADES) PL string. These can be added to the current Tools.ini file from Utilities - Edit Logging Tool Details - Calibrations - Restore. Full details are given in the Word document "Adding HCT to Warrior.doc". HCT-UTDI.WSV and HCT-USB.WSV contain the service definitions for the HCT (HADES) PL service when running with the UTDI and USB interfaces respectively. They can be added to the current Services.ini file from Utilities - Edit Logging Service Details - Service - Import. Full details are given in the same document. MTT.WCF contains the tool definitions for the Magnetic Thickness Tool. This can be added to the current Tools.ini file from Utilities - Edit Logging Tool Details - Calibrations - Restore. Full details are given in the Word document "Adding MTT to Warrior.doc". MTT-UTDI.WSV and MTT-USB.WSV contain the service definitions for the MTT service when running with the UTDI and USB interfaces respectively. They can be added to the current Services.ini file from Utilities - Edit Logging Service Details - Service - Import. Full details are given in the same document. MTT.DLL has been updated to deal better with phase wrapping. MTT.PRS is the default presentation file for the MTT and MTT-SNDX.WTD is the tool diagram. The Word document "Running MTT with Warrior.doc" contains some instructions on running the service. TOOLDGM.DOC is a Word document containing the latest tool diagrams. TOOLEDIT.INI has been updated to include the UTT software. ULTRALNK.INI has had several modifications. The GHT tool has been added and the definitions for PGR and CTFG have been changed to reduce spiking on GR sensors. The PNL definition has also changed. To add an Ultrawire GHT to an Ultralink service then the following line must be added to the service in Services.ini: YG=ULD,GHT1 and the GHT tool must be added to the list of tools. ULTRALNK.SX0 is a back-up copy of ULTRALNK.INI. UTTE-SX.WTD and UTTM-SX.WTD are new tool diagrams for the UTT split into electronics and mechanical sections. UTTEUTTM.WCF contains the tool definitions for the split sections which can be added to the current Tools.ini file from Utilities - Edit Logging Tool Details - Calibrations - Restore. The single UTT tool in the Services.ini file will also have to be changed to the separate UTTE and UTTM tools. CAT.DLL has been changed to correct bad sensors in a simpler way (straight interpolation between the adjacent sensors). CATUTILS.EXE is a new utility which can create a CAT density map (vdl) from imported memory data recorded with Sondex Memlog. It also produces LAS files compatible with Sondex CATview. Make a shortcut to CATUTILS.EXE and copy it to the Sondex Warrior System desktop folder to give easy access to the program. CAT.RGB has been changed to reflect new holdup values as a result of flow loop testing of the tool. MITUTILS.EXE has been updated to fix some bugs in the line speed curve handling in CAL3 format files and also to increase the size of the bin size when histogramming to avoid overflows. PLPUSB.DLL is a new device module for the Production Logging Panel running on USB. PLPUSB32.EXE is a used by PLPUSB.DLL. PLPUSB.WSV contains the service definition for running the PLP on USB together with the DIU for depth and tension. It can be added to the current Services.ini file from Utilities - Edit Logging Service Details - Service - Import. In addition, the following line must be added to the [Acquisition] section of Warrior.ini: PLPUSB=PTP 64 1 WARRIOR.SXn, SERVICES.SXn and TOOLS.SXn are copies of WARRIOR.INI, SERVICES.INI and TOOLS.INI with the above modifications added for various system configurations. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Updates 6 Package - 9 June 2003: WLOGPLOT.DLL, DBASE.DLL and JEDIT.EXE have been updated to overcome a problem with annotations. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Updates 5 Package - 16 May 2003: MIT.DLL and MITUTILS.EXE now have the capability to produce the curves AVERAD, MINRAD and MAXRAD. DATA.LST has had these curves added. The MIT*.PRS files have been changed to show AVERAD, MINRAD and MAXRAD instead of AVEDIA, MINDIA and MAXDIA on the MITxxF.PRS files and the curves CENTOFF and CENTANG (centralising offset and angle) have been added to all the files. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Updates 4 Package - 2 May 2003: WLOGPLOT32.DLL has been modified to overcome a problem printing pass dates and times when using the 32-bit printing option. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Updates 3 Package - 17 April 2003: CTR10.DLL is a new version of the DLL which deals with the CTR card. The CTR can be used for depth input in systems which are connected to a Warrior panel but in most Sondex systems, depth comes in on the STDI/UTDI card or via USB. This version of CTR10.DLL disables the depth input on the CTR card when the CTR is not configured as the System Depth Counter. This update replaces an earlier update of this DLL. TIFFFILE32.DLL has been modified to allow the user to specify a maximum page length when producing TIFF files. The previous version defaulted to 90 inches. Caution - some TIFF reading programs cannot handle a page length of > 90 inches (including Warrior Fax). UTDI.DLL, ULUSB.DLL, DUMMYULD.DLL, ULTRALNK.INI and ULTRALNK.SX0 have been modified to improve stability on certain systems. Note that they must be installed as a set, you can't use the new DLLs with and old ULTRALNK.INI and vice-versa. TOOLDLG32.DLL has been modified to overcome a line wrap problem when printing tool diagrams using the 32-bit printing option. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Updates 2 Package - 6 March 2003: CTR10.DLL is a new version of the DLL which deals with the CTR card. The CTR can be used for depth input in systems which are connected to a Warrior panel but in most Sondex systems, depth comes in on the STDI/UTDI card or via USB. This version of CTR10.DLL disables the depth input on the CTR card and should not be applied on systems which use the CTR for depth. CTR10OLD.DLL is the previous version of CTR10.DLL and can be renamed back to CTR10.DLL to restore the depth functionality on the CTR. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Updates 1 Package - 6 March 2003: The *.INC files have had some extra lines removed which are not used. MIT.DLL, MITUTILS.EXE and MITXSECT.EXE have had some bugs removed. --------------------------------------------------------------------- V6.3.3 - 14 January 2003: Initial release. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
