===================================================================== SONDEX UTILITIES README FILE ===================================================================== Sondex Utilities is a collection of programs for use with the Sondex Warrior Logging System (V7.00 onwards) and with LAS files. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Annotation Copier (AnnCopy.exe) ------------------------------- Copies Annotation information from a Warrior pass to multiple destination passes. Crossplot (Xplot.exe) --------------------- General purpose crossplot with single or multiple pass input, either from LAS files or from a Warrior database. Gate Generator (GateGen.exe) ---------------------------- Automatically create the Warrior gate settings for Sondex Radial Bond Tools (RBTs). It can also generate Warrior AGT files. Log Depth Match (LogMatch.exe) ------------------------------ Allows the user to depth match and shift multiple Warrior passes or LAS files. Log Editor (LogEdit.exe) ------------------------ Used for removing individual anomalies or spikes from Warrior curves or sets of curves. Presentation Editor (PRSEdit.exe) --------------------------------- Used for editing Warrior .PRS (presentation) files as a complement to Warrior's own editor. It can change the scale of multiple curves at once and automatically increment between them, particularly useful for offsetting arrays of curves such as with the MIT tool. Remote Datalink (Datalink.exe) ------------------------------ This is a real time data transmission program from Warrior to a serial port. It can be used for driving a remote display (such as an MTL one) or for sending data to another computer. SAT Utilities (SATUtils.exe) ---------------------------- Allows the SAT spinners to be calibrated in situ by crossplotting various passes. It also produces calibrated flow speeds and a flow map which can be written to the Warrior database and plotted. Tool Diagram Maker (WtdMaker.exe) --------------------------------- Allows Warrior tool diagrams to be created without a drawing package. Welltest Logger (Welltest.exe) ------------------------------ This is a real time logger of data from Warrior with output to a LAS file. The LAS file can be plotted in real time with the Welltest Plotter. Welltest Plotter (Wellplot.exe) ------------------------------- Plots pressure buildup, Horner plots etc from a LAS file or from a Warrior database. Welltest Statistics (Wellstat.exe) ---------------------------------- Generates statistical information of Warrior databases and LAS files, including mean and standard deviation. Dongle Extender (Xtender.exe) ----------------------------- Used for extending or updating Sondex dongles. Compatibility: --------------------------------------------------------------------- This version is compatible with Windows 2000, XP and Vista x86 (32-bit) editions only. Installation notes: --------------------------------------------------------------------- To access the Sondex key (dongle), Hardlock drivers must be installed if not already present on the machine. These are available from the Sondex website or are on the installation CD. You may need administrator privileges on the system to install this package and the Hardlock drivers. Depending on the security settings of the system, you may need administrator privileges to run the programs as well. Notes for Windows Vista: --------------------------------------------------------------------- Windows Vista has introduced tighter security on the file system and registry. In particular, the Program Files folder and subfolders cannot be written to by standard users. Even administrators cannot write to these folders when running programs with User Account Control (UAC) enabled as this automatically switches administrators back to standard users when running normal programs. When you try and write a file (including ini files) as a standard user to a Program Files location, the write appears to succeed. However, the file is actually redirected to a Virtual Store location C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Sondex Utilities. There are a number of ways of changing this behaviour (search support.microsoft.com for details). The easiest is to run as an administrator and switch User Account Control off on the machine. Release History: --------------------------------------------------------------------- V8.41 1 July 2008 ----------------- SAT Utilities: Improved auto best-fit calculation. Now only the average points are used to calculate the best-fit and the user has the option to remove passes from the calculation. When only a single best-fit is displayed the threshold is assumed to be zero. Spinners can be flagged as invalid for flow and VDL calculations. Added option to create a percentage flow curve (from spinner data) and output an ASCII table of cumulative and zonal flow. Gate Generator: Added support for metric units. Log Editor: Fixed error reading signed byte data types which resulted in interpolation errors in the MITVDL spike removal. Presentation Editor: Runs without a Sondex Utilities dongle if using Sondex Warrior. Welltest Statistics: The user can now format the output of the statistics text file. Formatting options include selecting required statistical outputs and picking the header items to include. The program now remembers the curves selected by the user and toggles the curves on or off depending on the last used setting. The program now remembers if the user has selected to output a static depth(time) or depth range in the statistic file. By default this setting will be selected for the next pass, irrespective of whether there is a static depth curve in the pass or a depth range. Dongle Extender: More program options added. New extension codes are required for this version, old codes will not work. SAT Utilities: New program which allows the SAT spinners to be calibrated in situ by crossplotting various passes. SAT Utilities requires a dongle enabled for either Sondex Utilities or the Sondex MAPview program.
