Sondex Drilling technology development has sustained a clear focus on ruggedness, reliability and cost efficiency. These factors are essential in order to ensure optimal performance of drilling equipment in the most demanding environments.

Our Product Design and Development programme is coordinated by Project Managers with practical oilfield experience and in depth knowledge of the Drilling Industry.

Sondex Drilling in Aberdeen (Geolink UK Ltd) is ISO9001 certified. Design and development is conducted within a quality driven environment where verification and validation design reviews take place on a regular basis. The release of finished designs, and subsequent modifications, is carefully controlled and communicated to our customer base via a secure engineering database.

Project Management Group
Experienced MWD/LWD and Drilling Tool Design Engineers control the overall engineering programme, as well as individual projects. The Technical Services group, an integral part of the team, provides sustaining engineering for commercial projects as well as ensuring that new designs are fully documented for field applications, manufacturing and testing.

Mechanical Design Group
Highly qualified engineers, designers and draftsmen utilize Solidworks 3D Computer Aided Design, with simulation modeling capability. A simultaneous engineering approach ensures that designs are optimized for the manufacturing process.

Electronic Design Group
Robust, technically sophisticated instrumentation that can withstand the extreme downhole environments encountered in drilling operations around the world is developed by groups of specialists from our facilities in Aberdeen, Houston and Calgary. Ongoing projects range from product line expansion developments to special projects commissioned by individual customers.

Sensor Design Group
Key developments are continuously taking place with the objective of offering a wider and more robust product line. From Tria-axial Flux Gate Magnetometer/Q-Flex Accelerometer Directional Sensors, to patented Gamma detectors and Wave Propagation and Induction Resistivity devices; the group is focused on delivering high accuracy sensors.

Software and Systems Group
Versatility and ease of use is an essential characteristic of the software packages that are developed and supported for MWD/LWD applications. An expert group develops and maintains our capabilities, including firmware and software applications to support both Real Time data acquisition and downhole memory storage.
